Six member rowdy gang arrested for attempted murder

Chennai, May 14 (UNI) police today arrested a six member rowdy gang with lethal weapons and foiled a murder attempt at Mint area in the city last night.

Police said they were identified as Muthupandi (30), Paramasivam (28), Kandaiyah (27), Muthuramalingam (26), Subramani (30) and Murugesan (28), carrying sickles and iron rods in a van that was proceeding towards Mint.

A police party which was engaged in a routine vehicle check up intercepted the van and effected the seizure of weapons.

A preliminary interrogation revealed that the arrested confessed that they were proceeding to murder one mason, who was working in a cement godown due to personal enemity.

Investigation was underway, police added.
