RComm to provide BlackBerry on CDMA
New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) Reliance Communications (RComm), India's second largest mobile marketing company, today said it is looking forward to bringing in the BlackBerry handset on CDMA platform soon.
''Yes, we are looking at bringing BlackBerry on CDMA,'' RComm Wireless Business President S P Shulka said on the sidelines of the launch of its entry-level colour handsets here.
Waterloo (Ontario)-based wireless solutions provider Research in Motion (RIM) is in advanced negotiations with RComm to offer its CDMA subscribers a range of services on the BlackBerry platform, unnamed sources said.
CDMA carriers in the US like Verizon have offered BlackBerry services for years. The technology issues have already been sorted out with Reliance.
This possible tie-up with RComm comes post the launch by Hutch of BlackBerry Connect on a range of GSM devices.
BlackBerry devices and BlackBerry Connect is available through Bharti Airtel as well.
Devices enabled with BlackBerry Connect can support push-based wireless email with attachment viewing and other features through the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Internet Server.
