PUCL office-bearer nabbed for naxal links
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, May 14 (UNI) Police have arrested Chhattisgarh's People's Union for Civil Liberties's (PUCL) general secretary Vinayak Jain under the Special Public Protection Act (SPPA) for allegedly having links with naxals.
Police said Dr Sen was arrested by Raipur police in the presence of City Superintendent of Police D B S Rajput when he was called for interrogation at Tarbahar police station here.
Dr Sen was en-route to Raipur from Kolkata in train. He was here to meet PUCL worker and High Court advocate Sudha Bharadwaj.
Raipur Police had arrested Kolkata-based businessman Piyush Guha for aiding letter communication among top-naxal leaders last week.
According to police, Guha had links with Dr Sen.
After his arrest, Dr Sen was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court for obtaining transit remand so that he could be taken to Raipur.
