Plea for making Sabarmati Express superfast train

Ahmedabad, May 14 (UNI) On behalf of the Gujarat Labour Welfare Board, a former member of Gujarat Labour Welfare Board Chandrabhan K Mishra in a memorandum to Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav has appealed to convert the Sabarmati Express into a superfast train.

Mr Mishra has been fighting for this train to be given superfast status for the past 25 years. ''I have appealed to Mr Vajpayee when he was the Prime Minister. I am still hopeful that something positive will be done,'' he said.

The train which goes to Uttar Pradesh including Faizabad and Varanasi usually arrives late in Ahmedabad. Mr Mishra has said a separate rake should be kept here so that the train can at least leave Ahmedabad on time. He said that five or six passenger trains can be run when the Sabarmati Express is made into a superfast train.
