NASSCOM hails Dayanidhi Maran's resignation

Chennai, May 14: NASSCOM today hailed Union Communications andInformation Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran, who has resigned fromthe Union Cabinet yesterday, for the key role played by him insustaining the growth of the IT industry over the last three years.

In a statement here, NASSCOM, on behalf of the Indian IT industry,said Mr Maran had been instrumental in reinforcing India's position asa premier destination for IT outsourcing and taking great interest inpromoting the growth of the domestic IT market.

His efforts have resulted in India becoming an increasingly prime location for the hardware industry also.

During his tenure, Mr Maran had considerably strengthened thepartnership between the Government and the industry in promoting the ITsector, NASSCOM said.

His role in bringing major positive changes in the telecom sectorhad been of great significance to the IT software and servicesindustry. It had also resulted in India becoming the fastest growingmobile telephony market in the world, the release added.
