Metal prices rise on better industrial demand

Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) Metal prices rose on better industrial demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous section, copper heavy, brass utensils and brass cuttings were up by Rs 100, Rs 400 and Rs 600 per quintal respectively on increase of fresh demand. But copper utensils declined by Rs 500 per quintal on sustained heavy selling pressure.

In the non-ferrous section, copper wire bars eased by Rs 200 per quintal on thin buying support.

Tin slab and Nickel cathode went up by Rs five and Rs 20 per kg on improved demand.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 35,600, Copper utensils - Rs 32,000, Brass utensils - Rs 26,000, Brass cuttings - Rs 27,000 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,900.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 39,100, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,100, Zinc slabs - Rs 20,100, Lead ingots - Rs 10,000, Tin slab - Rs 755 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 2,300 (per kg).
