Maran lists out his achievements

Chennai, May 14 (UNI) Union Communication and Information Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran today said he was able to mobilise a huge investment of Rs 2,66,000 crore for the country and a lion's share of Rs 47,000 crore of it for Tamil Nadu between February 2005 and April this year.

Addressing a crowded press conference here, Mr Maran, who had submitted his resignation in the wake of the DMK Administrative Committee issuing a showcause notice to him for alleged anti-party activities yesterday, released the investment details to the media.

Asked whether there would be any setback in these new investments following his resignation, he said there was good governance at the Centre, headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and in the State.

Hence, there would not be any problem for new investments. This would only attract more and more foreign investments, he added.

The Minister said a few more fresh investments by companies like Sanmina were in the pipeline and they were expected to set up new ventures by June next.
