Lok Sabha adjourned till 1200 hrs

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 1200 hours as vociferous Telugu Desam members, protesting against an acute water shortage in Andhra Pradesh, trooped into the well of the House, seeking suspension of Question Hour to listen to their grievances.

As soon as the House assembled in the morning, the TDP members were immediately on their feet, drawing the attention of the Chair to the water shortage in Andhra Pradesh as it was not getting adequate supply of water from Maharashtra, which was assured to the state under the Godavari River Agreement signed between the two states.

Speaker Somnath Chatterjee relented and allowed TDP leader Yerra Naidu to speak on the issue. But as he mentioned the name of Maharashtra, Congress members protested against it immediately, saying the state issue should not be allowed to be raised in the House.

TDP members again rushed to the well, leading to a pandemonium, forcing the chair to adjourn the House for ten minutes, to be met again at 1200 hours.
