Kochi, May 14 (UNI) To provide a platform for buyers and sellers in the coir sector, the Coir Board will organise India International Coir Fair, 2007 (IICF) in December.

Informing this to reporters here today, Coir Board Chairman A C Jose said the Centre had sanctioned Rs 1.25 crore for the expo which would bring together maximum buyers and sellers in the sector.

'' While the date for the fair has not been fixed, the venue will be either Kochi or Alappuzha,'' Mr Jose said.

The fair would enable buyers and sellers from abroad and across the country to have the opportunity to interact with coir workers, manufacturers, traders, financial institutions, builders and interior designers during the business sessions, he added.

In the current fiscal, the Board plans to participate in about 12 international fairs on a 'focus country', 'focus product' basis besides participation in four international fairs in India.

During 2006-07, the Board had taken part in seven international trade fairs and exhibitions and displayed coir and related products available for export from India, Mr Jose said.
