GSI stresses on protected zone in MP
Indore, May 14 (UNI) Describing Dhar district's Bagh and Jeerabad as having extreme possibilities of fossil findings including dinosaur eggs, Geological Survey of India (GSI) Director D M Mohabe has stressed that the Madhya Pradesh government should declare the region a protected zone.
''On December 6, 1997, the Gujarat government declared Rahiyoli a protected zone after dinosaur eggs and other fossils were found in large numbers. I will soon submit a preliminary report to the state government and also make recommendations,'' he told reporters here yesterday after examining eggs and locations where they were discovered.
Mangal Panchayat Parishad, a voluntary organisation reported the presence of eggs at several locations in Dhar district's Manawar.
The Parishad recently handed over more than 100 eggs to the Ashmadha Fossil Museum near Mandu. Later, youths owing allegiance to the NGO discovered more locations in Bagh yielding eggs and alerted the GSI.
