ECR records impressive growth in freight and passenger earnings
Patna, May 14 (UNI) The newly created East Central Railways' Danapur division has become one of the most viable railway divisions in the country by recording an impressive growth in both freight and passenger earnings during the last fiscal.
ECR sources here today said during the period the division's earnings from carrying of freight had increased by over 8.1 per cent and that from bonafide passengers had gone up by nearly ten per cent surpassing all previous records.
Referring to the success achieved by ECR staff from the sudden ticket checking drives in several stations, the sources said a total amount of Rs 18.2 lakhs were recovered as fine from ticketless travellers during the period under review.
Moreover, during the past fortnight alone more than 2000 passengers were booked for travelling without tickets and about Rs five lakhs were recovered from them as fine, they said.
