DMK to send show cause notice to Maran by evening
Chennai, May 14 (UNI) The DMK, whose Administrative Committee yesterday decided to issue a show cause notice to party leader and Union IT and Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran for indulging in alleged anti-party activities, will do so later today.
''We were busy with the Assembly session in the morning. We will send it in the evening,'' a senior party source told UNI.
The source said Mr Maran would be given ten to 15 days time to explain his stand.
The Administrative Committee met at the DMK headquarters 'Anna Arivalayam' last evening and authorised party President M Karunanidhi and General Secretary K Anbazhagan to take steps to immediately withdraw Mr Maran from the Union Cabinet for his alleged attitude detrimental to the interests of the party and behaviour in violation of party discipline.
The party, however, decided to seek Mr Maran's explanation.
The source said a decision on the future of Mr Maran's primary membership in the party would be taken after it received his reply.
At a press conference addressed in his family's Gopalapuram residence this morning, Mr Maran said he was yet to receive the show cause notice.
