Delegation from WB visits Mysore Zilla Panchayat

Mysore, May 14 (UNI) A delegation of the West Bengal State Finance Commission led by its Chairman Sukhbilas Verma today visited the Mysore Zilla Panchayat Office on a study tour.

The delegation on their arrival was given a warm welcome by Zilla Panchayat President Rajamma. Karnataka had proved as a role model in the country by implementing the Panchayati Raj system more effectively by decentralisation of power to the lowest level of the elected representatives.

Dr Verma said they were here to learn the financial activities of the Zilla Panchayat and how the elected representatives would involve themselves in the financial activities at the Gram Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat level. He expressed his happiness over the visit to the Zilla Panchayat which had successfully implemented the Panchayati Raj system in the district.
