Chandigarh, May 14 (UNI) The Haryana Cabinet today gave its ex-post facto approval to the government decision to revise the minimum floor rates for acquiring land for public purposes for various departments as well as other state agencies.

The decisiont was taken as the government felt that with the passage of time, market rates of land had increased substantially since the fixation of prices on April 28, 2005, an official spokesman said.

The revised minimum floor rate for ''urbanisable'' area of Gurgaon would be Rs 20 lakh per acre instead of Rs 15 lakh per acre earlier.

Similarly, minimum floor rate for rest of Haryana sub-region of NCR, Panchkula and area of Chandigarh periphery in Haryana would be Rs 16 lakh per acre instead of Rs 12.50 lakh per acre earlier.

A minimum floor rate of Rs eight lakh per acre would be admissible for the rest of Haryana as against Rs five lakh per acre fixed earlier. These floor rates do not include the solatium and interest payable under the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.
