Warangal, May 14 (UNI)The district police authorities today distributed 21 inch Television sets and DTH systems to 24 village committees, many of which were in the tribal villages.

At a function organised here, the sets were handed over to members of the village committees dwelling in remote corners of the district in agency mandals of Eturunagaram, Tadvai, Mangapet, Mulug, Govindaraopet, Venkatapur, Kothaguda, Gudur, Nallabelli, Chityal and Maddur. The tribal villages remain cut off from the mainstream.

The idea behind providing the TV sets ws that besides entertainment, the villagers would benefit from the programmes on a wide range of issues like agriculture, health awareness and education for students.

Speaking on the occasion, Warangal range DIG K Laxman Mohan said'the people living in far off corners should know what is happening around them, how fast the world is changing and how the people were benefitting from the initiatives of individual efforts and government schemes.
