Another sugar cane farmer commits suicide in K'taka
Gulbarga, May 14 (UNI) Unable to sell his sugar cane crop due to the glut, one more farmer commit suicide in Karnataka today.
Mallappa Pujari (45) committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his fields at Kadani Village about 10 km from here. He took the extreme step unable to pay his debts which he had borrowed to raise his sugar cane crop. He could not sell his crop days after harvesting it, family said.
It may be noted that another sugar cane farmer had committed suicide in Narayanpur Village Jeawargi taluq in this district on May nine.
On April eleven, nine sugar cane farmers had attempted mass suicide in front of Tahasildar office in Jewargi in protest against the attitude of a sugar factory which had rejected to lift their sugar cane.
