Andhra water shortage issue forces RS adjournment thrice
New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) The acute water shortage in Andhra Pradesh resulting from the construction of a dam at Babli on the Godavari river by the Maharshtra Government today brought together almost all the Opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha in demanding a statement from the Centre.
The issue led to adjournment of the House thrice.
Agitated members created an uproar in the House, highlighting the plight of AP farmers. As soon as the House assembled for the day, R Chandarshekhar Reddy, the TDP leader, who had given a notice to the Chair to raise the issue, rose up to read his statement, but demanded that Question Hour be suspended and the whole time devoted to discussion on the issue.
