Air services restored partially in Vizag
Visakhapatnam, May 14: Running of ATR flights was partially restored in the airport today, two days after a Paramount Airways aircraft overshot the runway, forcing cancellation of all flights from the port city.
However, big flights have been cancelled for the third consecutive day today.
Visakhpatnam Airport Controller C Pattabhi told sources that Paramount's Embraer flight, which got stuck at the end of the runway, would be completely removed by this evening. Naval help had been sought for the purpose.
A technical team from Hyderabad arrived here and inspected the runway. The team also went into how the incident happened.
Meanwhile, a Naval Spokesman contradicted the claim of Paramount Airways that the flight overshot the runway due to the presence of mud on the runway. The Boeing 737 of Indian Airlines had landed normally a few minutes before the mishap occurred, he pointed out.
