80.66 pass per cent registered in Plus 2 examination

Puducherry, May 14 (UNI) The government and private schools in Puducherry and Karaikal regions today registered a overall performance of 80.66 pass percentage in the Higher Secondary, Plus-two examination held in March this year, adopting the Tamil Nadu government syllabus pattern.

Talking to newspersons after releasing the results here, the Puducherry Education Minister M O H F Shajahen said the pass percentage this year showed an increase of 6.51 per cent over the previous year.

He said 9811 students appeared for the examination in both the regions, out of which 7914 candidates had emerged with success.

Mr Shahjahan said one village-based government Higher Secondary school at Sedarapet in Villianoor commune panchayat limits and three private schools had scored cent percent each.

S Vijayalakshmi, alias Vedha of St Joseh of Cluny Girls Higher Secondary school at Lawspet here and Siddhika Nitin Cowlagi of St Patrick's Higher Secondary School in Thanthai Periyar Nagar scored 1175 each out of 1200 marks.

S Sandhya of St Joseph of Cluny Girls Higher Secondary School came second with 1174 marks and the third rank went to L G Vaitheeswaran of Petit Seminairie Higher Secondary School with 1173 marks.
