33 pc reservation for women: Nepal Prime Minister

Kathmandu, May 14: Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said there will be 33 per cent reservations for women in Parliament after the constituent Assembly elections in Nepal.

''All political parties including Nepali Congress (NC) are preparing for allocating 33 per cent seats to women,'' he said while meeting women representatives of his party, Nepali Congress.

He did not say whether the new constitution to be written after the election of constituent Assembly will have the provision of reservation to women.

Meanwhile, Mr Koirala is in his home town Biratnagar in eastern Nepal for three days rest, the party said.
