21 killed, 25 injured in lorry-van collision

Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, May 14 (UNI) At least 21 people were killed and 25 others injured when a van collided with a lorry on the national highway near Rolmamida village of Neredigonda mandal in Adilabad district today.

Police said 21 bodies were retrieved from the van in which a marriage party was travelling to Adilabad. The van was completely damaged after colliding with the speeding lorry.

The injured were immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for more than two hours due to the accident. The mangled van and lorry were later shifted from the highway with the help of cranes.

The lorry driver escaped from the scene of mishap.

Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the driver.
