Traders urge Lt Gov to help resolve sealing issue

New Delhi, May 13: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), today submitted a memorandum to Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna and urged him to convene a meeting of all sections of society to workout a permanent solution to the sealing issue, based on the recommendations of the committee headed by him.

''To end the prevailing atmosphere of terror, confusion and uncertainty prevailing in Delhi, the problem of sealing should be resolved while considering the recommendations of the committee headed by Mr Tajendra Khanna last year,'' CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said.

He said the panel had made an indepth study on the issue and given '' logical recommendations''.

Mr Khandelwal urged the Lt Governor to intervene in resolving the issue and to save the livelihood of lakhs of people.

''Convening a meeting of all sections to arrive at a consensus to resolve sealing issue is the need of the hour,'' he added.

The Memorandum said continued sealing in Delhi since more than a year had threatened trade which ultimately is resulting in loss of business.

''Employees and families of traders in Delhi are facing grave economic problems,'' it pointed out.

The CAIT Secretary General claimed that the ''principle of natural justice'' was grossly being denied to traders.
