Tough action against encroachers: Minister

Kochi, May 13 (UNI) Kerala Forest Minister Binoy Viswam today said tough action would be taken against land encroachers at Munnar in Idukki district, irrespective of their party affiliations.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Viswam said action would also be taken against revenue and forest officials if they were found guilty of abetting encroachment of government land in the hill station.

''The government will not succumb to any pressure whatsoever and tough action will be taken against all who have illegal possession of land in Munnar,'' he said.

The Minister also noted that there had been no encroachment of land for the last two years at Pooyamkutty in Idukki district.
