Surface communication and air connectivity to get priority
Agartala, May 13 (UNI) Tripura is contemplating according priority to the development of surface communication and air connectivity among the North-eastern states in next Northeastern Council meeting to be held on May 17-18 in Aizawl.
Official sources here today said Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had already informed NEC authorities to incorporate the communication issue in the agenda for sustainable development of the region.
According to sources,Minister for Development of NE Region(DoNER) Manishankar Aiyar was scheduled to attend the meeting, which would formulate a long-term strategy for development of communication linkage in the region.
The meeting would discuss about conversion of existing National Highway connecting NE states to four-lane roads at the earliest, while expansion of air connectivity among the states as well as opening of abandoned airport, including three of Tripura, officials stated.
The meeting would also review the decision.
