Kolhapur, May 13 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) National General Secretary A B Bardhan today charged the government of overlooking interests of farmers in favour of foreign investors and industrialists for the creation of Special Economic Zones (SEZ).

He said the government is making propaganda about foreign investment flow into India, but not talking about the facilities extended by them and good fertile lands of farmers was acquired at low costs for the farmers.

As many as 40 industrialists from India are among the list of richest persons in the world. ''They have become rich by exploiting Indian workers, farmers and poor people and thus earning more profits'', he said.

Even 50 years since India's independence workers, farmers, downtrodden, and poor are being exploited and atrocities against them continues, he lamented.

About 32 crore people in India are living below the poverty line, but the ruling government is not speaking about it, he said.

Speaking at a joint function - rally by electricity workers and the felicitaiton of MSEB workers' federation leader Baburao Tarali here - Mr Bardhan said electricity sector is in danger following government's efforts to bring the section under private net and urged workers to bring the section together and fight the government move.
