School teacher shot dead in Bihar

Purnia, May 13: Suspected Maoist activists gunned down a school teacher at Baria village here yesterday, official sources today said.

Official sources here today said the ultras, who were waiting for the victim in the dark for sometime, opened five on him while he was on his way, killing him on the spot.

Before escaping into the dark, he guerillas left behind a hand -written leaflet besides the body in which they branded the school teacher as a ''police informer.'' A posse of armed police from the district headquarters arrived the spot and launched a massive combing operation to nab the culprits, but none could be arrested so far, the sources added.

Incidentally, this was the second such murder by suspected Maoist extremists in the Maoist-dominated district during the past one month.
