Mufti calls for declaring J
Srinagar, May 13 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed called for declaring Jammu and Kashmir a special education zone.
Addressing a public meeting at Hazratbal here, he said Jammu and Kashmir should not only be declared a special economic zone, but special education and information technology zones as well.
''Not only Indian, but also foreign educational and IT institutions could come and set up their branches in the state,'' the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said.
Given its environment and weather conditions, he said the state was an ideal location for educational and IT enterprise.
Such an initiative, besides promoting the local human resource, would also boost the state's economy and free its people from the mentality of siege, the PDP leader added.
