Low pressure concentrates into depression

Vijayawada, May 13 (UNI) The low pressure area over east central Bay of Bengal has concentrated into a depression and now centered within half a degree of latitude 15 degree north and longitude 90.5 degree east about 400 km north west of Port Blair.

The system was likely to intensify further and move in a northern direction towards Bangladesh initially, a met official told UNI here today.

Isolated rain or thundershowers were likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours, the official said adding dry weather was likely over the rest of the state.

The official said conditions were favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some parts of south west Bay and some parts over south east Bay.

Meanwhile, the heat wave conditions prevailing in coastal Andhra Pradesh was due to dry winds from central part of India, the official added.
