Lathicharge on CPI(M) activists, several injured
Hyderabad, May 13 (UNI) The agitation launched by CPI(M), seeking possession of government lands for housing to the poor in the city, took a violent turn as the police resorted to lathicharge on the activists injuring several persons, including women.
Police said the activists led by CPI(M) leaders allegedly occupied the government lands at Kukatpalli and Golkonda areas and pitched tents and makeshift houses.
In a bid to resist the ongoing agitation, police resorted to lathicharge on the activists and removed the tents from the places.
Irate left activists pelted stones on the police and damaged one police van. One police official received stone injuries in the violence. Several activists and leaders were arrested and lodged in police station.
