Kashmir economy poised for progress: Azad

Srinagar, May 13 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today urged industrialists and traders to devise short-term and medium-term strategy to enhance economic potential of the Valley.

Addressing an award function organised by the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) here, Mr Azad said the International Airport in Srinagar was expected to be ready by November-end this year, which would give a philip to tourism and floriculture.

Similarly, the Valley would be linked to the country's rail network within next four years and the trade fraternity should plan in advance to take full advantage from it, Mr Azad added.

The Chief Minister said sky is the limit as far as the potential of horticulture and handicraft sectors was concerned.

''But unfortunately slow pace of implementing various schemes and also the attitude of the people to wait only for government jobs is big hurdle in realising the promising potential,'' he added.
