J'khand yet to send food park proposal

Ranchi, May 13 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Food Processing Subodhkant Sahay today urged the state government to formulate specific strategy for establishing food processing units.

Mr Sahay said the Union government was ready to provide every possible assistance in this direction.

Talking to newspersons here Mr Sahay said, ''The state has immense opportunities in food processing sector but the government is yet to frame any specific policy for the sector.'' He informed that a number of workshops and seminars were conducted to promote food processing in Jharkhand in the last three years but the ministry was yet to receive a proposal for constructing a food park in Jharkhand.

He iterated, ''Food processing can be one of the best options for econmic enhancement of small and middle income group farmers of Jharkhand.'' When asked about the problems faced by the Ranchi based Heavy Engineering Corporation, Mr Sahay said, ''It will smoothly sail out from the present crisis and soon receive huge work order.
