Indebted farmer commits suicide in Nashik district
Nashik, May 13 (UNI) A farmer has allegedly committed suicide in Vanarwadi village in Dindori taluka of this district.
Chhabu Karbhari Chavan (45) had taken a loan of Rs 178,000 from a lending society, police said. The farmer had suffered losses after his onion crop was damaged due to unseasonal rains last season and was unable to repay the loan, police said.
The farmer committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house, police said while clarifying that the farmer had not been harassed by the society for repayment of the loan.
