Hot Sunday in Kashmir
Srinagar, May 13 (UNI) It was a hot Sunday in Kashmir today with the temperature touching nearly 30 degrees Celsius.
The weather office here said the maximum temperature in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir was recorded at 29.5 degrees Celsius, about seven degrees above normal. The minimum stood at 12.4 degrees Celsius, which is also above normal.
A large number of people, mostly children, were seen taking dip in the famous Dal Lake here to beat the heat.
Ice cream vendors and fruit sellers were doing a brisk business these days in view of the rising mercury.
Heavy rush of people, including tourists, was being witnessed on the banks of the Dal Lake in the evenings these days.
It said Pahalgam and other hill resorts also witnessed rising temperatures. In Pahalgam, the maximum stood at 25.0 degrees Celsius while the minimum was recorded at 7.3 degrees Celsius.
The Met office said Jammu continued to remain hot with the maximum temperature being recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in the winter capital of the state stood at 23.9 degrees Celsius.
The weather office predicted rain and thundershowers at several places across the state.
