Haryana earmarks Rs 21cr for Viwah Shagun Yojna
Chandigarh, May 13: The Haryana government has made a provision of about Rs 21 crore under the ''Indira Gandhi Priyadarshani Viwah Shagun Yojna'' to benefit 8176 beneficiaries during the current financial year.
A spokesman for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department said under the scheme a grant of Rs 15,000 was being given to the persons belonging to Scheduled Castes and Denotified Tribes living below the poverty line (BPL) on the occasion of the marriage of their daughter.
Similarly, a sum of Rs 5100 would be given to other sections of the society living Below Poverty Line under the scheme.
He said the grant will be made available for the marriage of two daughters in a family. Any widow or divorced woman who wants to re-marry is also eligible to get benefit under this scheme.
