Delhi-based three travel agents booked for fraud

Moga, May 13 (UNI) The Baghapurana police of this district today registered a case against three Delhi-based travel agents including a brother and sister, on charges of duping a woman of Rs 5.90 lakh on the false promise of sending her to the United States and keeping her passport with them.

According to the police complaint of the victim Amandeep Kaur, a of resident Jeonwala of Moga district, the accused Gurdeep Singh and his sister Chhinder Kaur hailing from Samdhbhai here and residing now in New Delhi's Transport and Aman Sethi, neither sent her to the US nor returned her money which was with them for more than a year now.

They even refused to give her the passport and threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to the police, Amandeep had alleged.

The police, taking a prompt action, booked the travel agents and entrusted the enquiry to anti-fraud cell of the district.

However, no arrest had been made so far.

Meanwhile, the foreign office had directed passport offices for taking complete details from the deported persons like the name of travel agent, amount of money paid, excluding the fare, in an affidavit to maintain complete information about such travel agents to be shared with the police whenever needed.
