CPI(M) activists arrested for encroachment on temple land
Vijayawada, May 13 (UNI) The Police took into custody, Krishna district CPI(M) Secretary V Umamaheswara Rao, Kankipadu division CPI(M) Secretary Haribabu and ten other party workers when they encroached upton ten acres of temple land at Yelamalakuduru, in the outskirts of the city here today.
Police said around 100 people with the support of the CPI(M) leaders erected red flags for house-sites in the temple land.
Tension prevailed for some time following the arrest. Later the leaders were released.
The CPI(M) would organise land encroachment agitations to ensure house-sites for landless poor.
