Carry bags to be made of damaged currency notes
Jaipur, May 13: Carry bags made of currency notes will be soon in the markets.
Damaged currency notes will be used to make carry bags and other useful items with a Jaipur-based NGO developing technique to make hand-made paper by recycling damaged currency notes.
With the Reserve Bank going eco-friendly the, bank switched over to making paper bricks out of the damaged notes instead of the earlier practice of burning them.
Dr R K Jain of Kumarappa Rashtriya Hath Kagaz Sansthan said his organisation has developed and patented a technique to make hand-made paper out of the paper bricks, made of damaged currency notes.
"This hand made paper could be come handy for making carry bags, photo frame and other stationery items," he said.
According to an estimate the about 10,000 tonne of old and torn currency notes accumulate every year.
