BSP's journey to the Centre is via UP: Mayawati

Lucknow, May 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today gave enough indication of giving all the national parties mainly Congress and the BJP A tough time when the nation goes for next general elections in 2009.

'' Yes..now the party wants to reach the centre stage of the politics while the first phase of getting to the power in the biggest state of the country is over,''the UP CM told reporters here.

Sounding ambitious and the tough-talking Mayawati said, ''Our next and immediate goal is to penetrate in other states as well enroute to the Centre.'' Elated over achieving the majority in UP polls, Ms Mayawati hoped to play an important role in the national politics. ''Once we have attained full majority in Uttar Pradesh, the way to Centre goes from here,'' she said.

Claiming the onward march of her party had already begun with one MLA in Andhra Pradesh, she said the southern states were very much on her party's agenda as far as the expansion of the party's base was concerned.

It was the first time in the last fourteen years that any government has been able to get majority.

He attributed her party's success to the faith of all the sections of society in party's policies and ideology. ''This very faith will drive us forward,'' the BSP supremo said.
