Katihar, May 13 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) All India General Secretary Tariq Anwar today described Bahujan Samaj Partys sweeping win in UP elections as the 'victory of secular forces'.

Speaking to newspersons here he said voters in UP had proved their political maturity by giving a clear mandate in favour of the BSP.

"The verdict would ensure political stability in the state," he claimed.

He said after winning the elections in Punjab and Uttaranchal, BJP had illusion of clinching the UP election as well, but after the poll results they could now realise how the things went out of their hand.

He said BSP chief Mayawati always stood against communal forces and her support to the UPA government at the Centre was an example of that. The party's victory in UP would mark the beginning of a new era in national politics, he hoped.

Reacting to the recent statement of Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit against the people of Bihar and UP, he said since Delhi was the national capital, people from all states and regions had their right to go and stay there.
