BSF shot dead smuggler, a jawan found dead in camp

Krishnagar, May 13 (UNI) A smuggler was shot dead by the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans at Thaipur village under Mouridia police station in Nadia district bordering Bangladesh.

BSF sources claimed the identity of the dead was yet to be established.

He was shot because he refused to halt and tried to cross over to other side of the border, BSF sources said.

BSF had recovered some Bangladeshi currency from him.

In another incident at Sima Nagar in Nadia district, a BSF jawan of 42 Batallion was found dead inside the camp here today.

BSF sources said, the jawan, identified as Harpanth Singh, had been suffering from illness for long.

The body had been sent for a post-mortem.
