Awareness rallies to be organiseed against child labour
New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) In an attempt to create awareness against child labour, the Delhi Government has decided to organise rallies and programmes in and around the national capital to sensitise people against employing children.
An awareness rally was organised by the Labour department in North East Delhi today to discourage people from employing children in their homes, restaurants, auto workshops and zari and embroidery units.
Deputy Labour Commissioner (East and North East) K R Verma said awareness campaign will be run in all districts of Delhi, particularly in area prone to child labour.
He appealed to people to cooperate and support the campaign and help eradicate the menace.
Members of Trade Unions of Trans Yamuna Area, Unit of Social Jurist (Rights to Education Task Force), RWAs and several NGOs participated in the rally which wound through Pusta Road, Bhajanpura, Noor-e-Ilahi via Gawri Road and Ghonda Chowk.
