3 HM militants killed in Jammu

Jammu, May 13 (UNI) Security forces today gunned down three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants in separate operations at Mahore and Reasi in Marwah and Doda districts respectively in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint party of 61 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and police launched a combing and search operation at Lancha in Mahore wherein two HM militants were killed after a fierce gun battle, SSP Reasi J L Sharma told UNI.

Both the militants were local, identified as Ashraf and Makhna, he said.

Two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 120 rounds and a Chinese grenade were recovered from the site of encounter, the SSP said, adding that the searches were still continuing.

Earlier, one HM militant, Mohammad Amin alias Jahangir, was killed by the troops of 11 RR and police near Bhatta bridge in Marwah area of Doda, SSP Doda Manohar Singh said.

One AK rifle, two magazines, 52 rounds and a pouch were recovered from the possession of the slain militant, he informed.
