Violence over road accident: 2 killed

Mandsaur, MP, May 12 (UNI) An agitated mob indulged in arson and violence after two people were killed in a road accident last night at Bhanpura town in this district, police said.

Tension prevailed in the area though the situation was under control, police said.

Police said a speeding jeep rammed two motorcycles, killing former councillor Ashfaq Ahmed(44) and Arif(22) and injuring another on the spot, while four people, including two children, riding on another motorcycle, were also injured.

Agitated crowd ransacked a liqour shop, set ablaze a shop and a truck parked nearby. Two buses and a hospital were also vandalised.

Additional police force was deployed in the area and senior officers were monitoring the situation.

The jeep driver was arrested. However, no arrest was made so far regarding the violence.
