Velu announces special trains to clear rush

Chennai, May 12 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu today announced special trains on Madurai-Chennai Egmore and Chennai Central-Mangalore sections to clear extra rush of passengers.

A Southern Railway press release said here the Madurai-Chennai Egmore special will leave Madurai at 2300 hrs on May 22 and 24 and will reach here at 0900 hrs on the next day.

On its return, the train will leave here at 2300 hrs on May 23 and 25 and will reach Madurai at 0900 hrs the next day.

The trains will stop at Kodaikanal Road, Dindigul, Tiruchirapalli, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram, Tindivanam, Chengalpattu, Tamabaram and Mambalam.

The Chennai-Central Mangalore Super Fast tri-weekly special will leave here at 1600 hrs on all Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from May 15 to 29 and reach Mangalore at 0745 hrs on the next day.

On its return, the train will leave Mangalore at 1700 hrs on all Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from May 16 to 30 and reach here at 0845 hrs on the next day.

The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Podanur, Palghat, Shoranur, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Calicut, Badagara, Tellicherry, Cannanore, Payyanur, Kanhangad and Kasargod.

Advance reservations will commence from tomorrow, the release added.
