Sirsa, May 12: Former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo Om Prakash Chautala today said the possibility of a mid-term Lok Sabha election had increased with the outcome of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

''The UP elections have proved that the Congress, with its poor performance, is a sinking ship and the Left parties will not like to ride along for long,'' Mr Chautala said while talking to reporters here.

The Left parties, he claimed, were likely to withdraw their support to the UPA government any time now.

Referring to the mandate secured by the BSP in UP, Mr Chautala said the people of the state oppressed by the caste-ridden politics had now reposed faith in Dalit leader Mayawati who had promised to protect interests to all sections of society.
