Uganda encourages investment from India
Kolkata, May 12 (UNI) Uganda, the country of bio-diversity, is willing to utilise the knowledge and expertise of India for their development.
Addressing a press meet here today Uganda Minister of International Affairs Ruhakana Rugunda said, '' Uganda being a third world country is willing to utilise the knowledge and expertise of India to grow as per Indian model.'' Terming the country to be rich in potential exploitable resouces, Mr Rugunda said, '' Uganda has huge potential in agro-processing, fishing, dairy products, mining, railway and power but is waiting to be explored.'' Although situated in the heartland of the African continent, Uganda lacks the basic infrastructure of road, rail, water and air connectivity. '' We are looking forward to Public-Private Partnertship (PPP) initiative for our airway and water tranport.
Access to regional market is being hampered due to inadequacy of air transport.'' Iterating that river Nile could be the greatest source of income in the country, Mr Rugunda said, transportation through Lake Victoria can be made if there is initiative from a private player.
''There is a potential of huge power generation through the construction of dam on Nile river,'' he stated.
