Hyderabad, May 12: The main opposition TDP will intensify its stir against the alleged illegal Babli project taken up in Maharashtra, by staging a dharna in New Delhi on May 14 pressing for immediate intervention of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to find a political solution to the riparian issue.

Over 3,000 party activists would leave by a special train tomorrow on 'Sriramsagar Project Parirakshana Yatra' for staging the dharna at Jantar Mantar, seeking a direction from the Centre to the Vilasrao Deshmukh government to immediately stop the project, TDP Legislature Party Secretary E Dayakar Rao told reporters here yesterday.

TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu would lead the protest in which farmers, MPs, MLAs, and local body representatives would take part, he said.

Though the Supreme Court wanted the Centre to take the initiative to resolve the riparian issue amicably through talks as the Congress was in power at the Centre as also in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had failed to take effective steps to stop the project, he alleged.
