Singapore PM, Prez host Breakfast

Hyderabad, May 12 (UNI) Setting aside protocol, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President N R Nathan today became hosts for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Mr Loong hosted breakfast for Mr Reddy while Mr Nathan hosted a lunch in his honour.

As per the protocol in Singapore, the Prime Minister and President host breakfast, lunch and dinner only for Heads of States of other countries.

Mr Nathan proposed to create a separate cell for the welfare of lakhs of Telugu people in Singapore. Chief Minister reddy thanked the President for the decision, an official release here said.

Earlier, Malaysian Telugu Sangham President Atchaian Kumar Rao, Vice President S Venkatesh invited the Chief Minister for the 'Fifth Global Indian Shopping festival-2007,' to be held on June three at Kuala Lumpur.

When the Sangham office bearers raised the issue of shortage of Telugu teachers and priests in Singapore, Dr Reddy immediately assured them to send adequate number of Telugu teachers and priests to Malaysia.

he also urged them to strive hard for popularising Telugu culture.
