Robbers loot train; RPF constable injured

Vadodara, May 12 (UNI) A Railway Protection Force (RPF) head constable sustained two bullet injuries in an attack by a gang of 7-8 unidentified robbers, armed with country-made revolvers and sticks, who allegedly looted passengers on board the Vadodara-Dahod Memu train near Limkheda railway station, about 14 km from Dahod.

Vijaybhai Khimjibhai Parmar received two bullet injuries - one on his abdomen and another in his hand, when he tried to intervene during the robbery last night.

He was rushed to Dahod Railway Hospital where he was operated upon and he is said to be out of danger.

He was off duty when he boarded the train for Dahod.

Three other passengers also received minor injuries in the scuffle.

The gang members, travelling as passengers from Vadodara, threatened passengers with country-made revolvers and sticks and looted them between 2230 and 2300 hrs. They then pulled the chain and got down at Jakote village near Dahod, fleeing with a booty of gold chains, earings and cash, police today said.

One Rajubhai Agarwal, who was travelling from Limkheda with his wife and children after attending a marriage at Jabalpur, lost six bags in the incident.

A complaint has been registered with the Dahod police station and PSI V C Thakkar is investigating the came. No arrests has been made so far, sources added.
