Itanagar, May 12 (UNI) The power scenario in Arunachl Pradesh has improved with the recent inauguration of two micro hydel power projects last week in the newly created Anjaw district.

State Finance Minister Kalikho Pul inaugurated the Kahao(10 KW) and Yapak Nala(2x100 KW) hydel projects along the Indo-China border.

A history of sorts was created as the remote district recorded four such projects being commissioned within a year. While the Dunai hydel project was ready for inauguration, the Matti Nalla hydel project had already been commissioned, official sources informed.

Incidentally, both these places, where the power projects were inaugurated, had witnessed an intense battle with China in 1962.

Reiterating his government's commitment to tapping the vast hydro power potential of the state, the minister informed that the government's endeavour was not only to supply power to every household but also earn revenue for the state.

The minister, who hails from the Anjaw district, called upon the officers to improve the work culture so that the benefits of the developmental schemes could percolate down to the grassroot levels.

He claimed that the achievement was praiseworthy as additional 740 KW power was being generated in a remote district, while efforts were being made to execute such projects in other districts also.

Mr Kalikho Pul also laid the foundation stone of the Teepani hydel project(2x250 KW), expected to be completed within this fiscal, to provide electricity to the remote Choglam circle in the district, sources added.
